Drifters

The book of Hebrews calls us to pay attention to the truth that we have heard so that we won’t drift away into false teachings.  How do Christ Followers drift away?

1)  We may become careless or complacent in our devotion to Christ Jesus.

2) We may fall back into sin we formerly had rejected.

3) We may compromise our morals and disobey Christ’s teachings.

4) We may neglect Christian service and thus become inactive Christ followers.

The currents of temptation pull strongly at Christ followers.  In order to resist, we must pay attention to Christ.  Listening to him means not merely hearing, but also obeying and taking action on what God calls us to do (James 1:22-25).  We must listen carefully and be ready to carry out his instructions.  Do not become a drifter….
